Newest piece arrived today. A new red and black half-tartan sweater from Takeshy Kurosawa. The “histrionic” design house came across my radar last year pretty much accidentally: after discovering Japanese style powerhouse Takahiro Miyashita, my curiosity for Japanese design was piqued, and I began to search for style out of Tokyo.

Imagine my surprise when I learned Takeshy Kurosawa was actually Italian.

Sweater by Takeshy Kurosawa, jeans from Uniqlo, gloves from Gloves Online.

An Italian brand born in Italy in 2005 and run by creative director Giuseppe Langella, their designs are fire, yes, but what sticks out to me about Takeshy Kurosawa is their use of materials. One might read a label and generate an opinion based on the materials used; Takeshy Kurosawa could take burlap and make it feel like silk, it seems.

This is my second purchase from this brand and it certainly won’t be the last. Also, since their sizes run small, they’re perfect for my underweight frame.

Y-Love x Takeshy Kurosawa. Fall 2023.
